Devon Candura (Ensemble) is originally from Massachusetts. She moved to Chicago after earning a BA in Theatre and English from the University of Notre Dame. Her previous Chicago credits include Death of a Salesman at Raven Theatre, The Illusion with Promethean Theatre Ensemble, Doubt at Redtwist Theatre, and columbinus at Raven Theatre (Non-Equity Jeff nominations - Best Ensemble, Best Production). Devon has also worked with Lifeline Theatre and Stage Left Theatre. Look for Devon in Promethean's upcoming productions of The Fantasticks and Spring Awakening.
Steve Gensler (Ensemble) is a Wisconsin native and holds a BS in theatre from Northwestern University. Before joining the Ensemble in 2010, he appeared in Promethean's The Illusion (Pleribo/Adraste/Florilame). As an actor, he has also worked locally with Adventure Stage, Griffin, Steep, Steppenwolf, and Theo Ubique, among others. In the Chicago improv scene, he has performed with iO and One Group Mind and has taught for OGM and Black House. Other work includes the development of solo performance pieces for the National Children�s Museum and writing for the children�s television show �Green Screen Adventures" (ThisTV, WCIU). Steve is grateful for the support of his family and for the opportunity to work alongside the talented individuals that make up PTE.
Sara Gorsky (Ensemble) A native of Elmhurst, Sara studied at Illinois Wesleyan University and the Moscow Art Theatre School before coming back to Chicago. She recently appeared as Ilse in Promethean's Spring Awakening and is so thrilled to join the ensemble! Recent credits include The League of Awesome (The Factory Theater), Breed With Me (The Mammals, Orgie Award-Best Actor), Neverwhere u/s, Last of the Dragons u/s (Lifeline Theatre), R.U.R., Old Town and Richard III (Strawdog) as well as working with the Resonants, Port Washington Pirate Festival and Richard Crowe. She also enjoys the occasional lighting design. Her work has been seen at Chicago Dramatists, Northern Illinois, Backstage Theatre Co, the DCA Storefront, Stage Left, Red Orchid and Mary-Arrchie. She has also served as an assistant designer at the Goodman, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Marriott-Lincolnshire, Theatre at the Center, Navy Pier and Victory Gardens. Nicole Hand (Newsletter Director/Ensemble) moved to Chicago from Colorado to study Theatre and English at Northwestern University. In 2002 she also trained at the British American Drama Academy. She is currently back at Northwestern pursuing her Master's in Secondary Education. Nicole has recently been featured in several Promethean performances including the DCA incubator project, Evening of Shakespeare, and Evening of Cabaret.
Anne Korajczyk (Development Director/Ensemble) A Chicago area native, Anne graduated from Northwestern University in June 2005 with degrees in Theatre and English. She also studied at the British American Drama Academy's summer program in July 2004. With PTE she has been seen in The Illusion (Elicia/Lyse/Clarina), Our Country's Good (Mary Brenham), and several installments of "An Evening of Shakespeare." In Chicago she has also had the pleasure of working with Griffin Theatre and Bohemian Theatre Ensemble.
Nick Lake (Outreach & Education Director / Ensemble) moved to Chicago from Pennsylvania to study Theatre at Northwestern University. Since graduating with a B.A. in 2005, he has kept himself busy in the Chicago theatre scene. With Promethean, Nick has appeared in Evening of Shakespeare, Shakespeare in the Garden, Six Characters in Search of an Author, Mad Kings/Mad World, The Illusion (Jeff Recommended), Measure for Measure, and will be seen as Schmendrick in The Last Unicorn. Other credits include Twelfth Night (City Lit), Rossum's Universal Robots (Strawdog), and FRAT (The New Colony). Nick traveled to Boston in 2006 for a national tour of Classics! with Chamber Theatre Productions. He also appeared in The Darling Children, directed by Stephen Murray, at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2008. Nick can often be seen at the Adler Planetarium showing the stars and planets to the unsuspecting public. He is happily married to Chicago harpist, Janelle Jansen Lake, and has a crazy cat named Cassiopeia.
Sharla K. Nolte (Resident Stage Manager/Business Manager/Ensemble) first worked with Promethean as the stage manager for the Jeff Recommended production of The Illusion and was honored when they asked her to join them first as their Resident Stage Manager and then as an Ensemble member. Since then she has stage managed Promethean’s productions of The Fantasticks and Spring Awakening and stepped in as the company’s business manager. Originally from Kansas City, Sharla received her stage managment training at Rockhurst University, where she stage managed 6 main stage productions and trained several apprentices during her time there. Also in Kansas City, she had the opportunity to intern with Starlight Theatre and Heart of American Shakespeare Festival. By day Sharla works in development at the Chicago Children’s Museum on Navy Pier.
Brian Pastor (Executive Director/Ensemble) has served as Executive Director of Promethean since its inception in October, 2005. He also serves as Managing Director of City Lit Theater, is an Artistic Associate with Chicago dell'Arte and serves on the board of The Mime Company. A Northwestern University graduate, Brian has acted with Promethean, City Lit, Chicago dell'Arte, The Mime Company, Bailiwick Repertory, Strawdog Theatre, Arts/Lane, Element and Authentic Theatre. He also directed Promethean's The Dark Side of the Bard, along with Stephen F. Murray. Brian's Promethean credits include Governor/Wisehammer in Our Country's Good, Flavio in The Light of Love, Lord Angelo in Measure for Measure and Prince Lir in The Last Unicorn.
Tyler Rich (Ensemble) is excited to be joining Promethean after last being seen as Moritz Steifel in Spring Awakening. Originally from New Hampshire, Tyler moved to the city in 2008 with a pick up truck and a BA in acting from Plymouth State University. Locally he has performed in: Measure for Measure (Promethean) Design for Living (First Folio) and The Bench Mark (Simple Theatre). Regional credits include: Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, The Palace Theatre, and Papermill Theatre. Tyler is also a certified fight choreographer and has choreographed fights for professional theaters throughout Chicago and the East Coast. In his spare time, when he has it, Tyler is also an avid rock climber.
Ed Rutherford (Marketing & Press Relations/Ensemble) has been working as an actor, director and writer in Chicago since graduating from Northwestern University in 2003. Recent acting work includes Promethean's own The Illusion and Six Characters in Search of an Author, as well as The Wind in the Willows with City Lit Theater and Feydeau-Si-Deau with Theatre Wit. Ed has also worked with Drury Lane Oakbrook, Noble Fool Theatricals, New American Theater, Illinois Theatre Center and Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, among many others. Additionally, for a time he served as the Theatre Editor for Centerstage Chicago. Ed directed Promethean’s inaugural production, Christopher Durang’s Beyond Therapy, as well as season four's world premiere of Peter S. Beagle's novel The Last Unicorn.
Tom Weber (Literary Manager/Ensemble) has appeared with Promethean previously in Beyond Therapy, The Light of Love, and The Illusion. Other recent favorites include The Glorious Ones with Boho Theatre (Jeff nomination--Best Ensemble), The Crucible with Infamous Commonwealth (Jeff recommended), and Oh Boy! with City Lit (Jeff recommended). This season with Promethean he can be seen in Kennedy's Children.
Beth Wolf (Artistic Director) is a proud founder of Promethean Theatre Ensemble. Originally from Southern California, she landed in Chicago after graduating from Northwestern University in 2003 with a double major in theatre and gender studies. While at NU, Beth was a founding member of Lovers and Madmen, a student Shakespeare company for which she performed, produced, directed, and served on the Executive Board. As an actor and director in Chicago, Beth has worked with such companies as Tangerine Arts Group, Chicago Jewish Theatre, Smoke & Mirror Productions, GroundUp Theatre, the improv group Valid Hysteria, and City Lit Theater. In particular, Beth recently directed a staged reading of Abe Lincoln in Illinois, and also had the privilege to assistant direct Mike Nussabaum's production of Dashiell Hamlet, both at City Lit. Beth is looking forward to directing The Fantasticks in Promethean's fourth season.
